IDENTIFIKASI TELUR CACING SOIL TRANSMITTED HELMINTHS PADA SAYUR KUBIS DI PASAR KOTA PEKANBARU

Abstract

Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH) is a group of worms that need soil in their life cycleto develop into an infective form. Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH) that frequently infect humans are Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura, Necator americanus and Ancylostoma duodenale. The effect caused by worm infectionare health problems, nutrient deficiencies, decreased intelligence and productivity of the sufferer. The purpose of this study was to determine the types of worm eggs found in cabbagesold at Pasar Pusat and Pasar Kodim Pekanbaru. The sampling technique used in this study waspurposive sampling. The examination method used were flotation method using saturated NaCl and sedimentation method by using 0.2% NaOH. The result of the examination showed that from 15 samples of cabbage,2 samples (13.3%) were positive of STH eggs. Sample (K1) was found to be positive for fertil eggs of Ascaris lumbricoides examined by flotation method, and sample (N1) was found to be positive for infertil eggs of Ascaris lumbricoides examined by sedimentation method.
